Meet the Video Editor: multi-clip editing, fully in your browser

Until today, muxTools was a collection of single-purpose tools: one page trims, another compresses, a third adds music. That covers a lot, but the most common request has always been the obvious one - do it all in one place. So here it is: the Video Editor.

It is deliberately simple. This is not a Premiere replacement; it is the editor for the ninety percent of edits that are actually simple: cut the boring parts out of a recording, stitch a few phone clips together, put music under a montage, and get an MP4 you can share.

What it does

• Multi-clip timeline - add any number of clips; they play in order, and each block's width reflects its duration
• Trim and split - set in/out points at the playhead, or split a clip into two and delete the part you do not want
• Reorder and mute - move clips left and right, silence the ones that only need their picture
• Music track - drop in an audio file, mix it with the original sound or replace it, with a volume control
• Live preview - play the whole sequence with your cuts applied before exporting
• MP4 export - 480p, 720p, or 1080p; clips are normalized and joined locally, then the music is mixed in

Fully offline, like everything else here

The editor runs on the same engine as the rest of muxTools: FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, running inside your browser tab. Your footage is never uploaded - the preview plays your local files directly, and the export is computed on your own machine. That also means no file size limits and no queue.

The honest trade-off: your device does all the work, so exporting a long video takes real time - roughly comparable to the video's duration on a typical laptop. For quick cuts of everyday clips, it is fast.

What is next

This is version one of the third phase of muxTools. On the list for the editor: text overlays, transitions between clips, and AI background removal without a green screen. If you hit something that does not work or miss a feature you need, that feedback directly shapes what gets built next.
